Fantastic Beginners Paddle (Very Forgiving)
I bought this paddle when my office announced they would be holding an office-wide ping pong tournament. After trying out the soft paddles that were included with the table, I decided I needed a bit more spin. The soft paddles that were included with the table did a very poor job of generating topspin; one really had to drive up and through the ball to get it over the net. Most of my shots ended up in the bottom of the net.
However, the DHS 3402 does not have this problem at all. By closing the face of the paddle slightly and striking the ball on your upswing, you can generate a healthy, controllable amount of topspin.
Now, you probably won't be able to execute really big loops that require a tremendous amount of spin, but for a beginner who wants to keep the ball in play and focus on placement, this is the paddle for you.
I should note that it's an excellent defensive paddle as well. The padding is reasonably thick and blocking slams is fairly simple...
